Dr. Ahmad Bashir comes from a family with a strong heritage for Medicine. His Father, Dr. Abdalla Y Bashir, is one of the fathers of general surgery in Amman, Jordan.
Dr. Ahmad Bashir finished his medical school at Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST). He later followed in father’s footsteps and sought general surgery residency in the United States. He completed his residency in surgery at St Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland. During his residency, he found his passion for Minimally Invasive & Bariatric surgery.
He then joined the world-renowned Dr. Kelvin Higa and Dr. Keith Boone (Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery Associates (ALSA)) in UCSF Fresno, where he completed his fellowship in Minimally Invasive & Bariatric Surgery. During his fellowship, he found his niche in tackling difficult and complicated, which he took from his mentor Dr. Higa.
Dr. Bashir then moved to Amman, Jordan and joined the family of Jordan Hospital, a leading tertiary center in the Middle East. There, he founded the Minimally Invasive & Bariatric program and became one of the leaders in the field in the country. He performs complex GI procedures and all types of bariatric procedures.
Dr. Ahmad Bashir continued his pursuit for perfection. He founded GBMC with the help of Jordan Hospital, a promising center with affiliations to great medical centers. This center delivers complete services in Gastrointestinal, Bariatric & Metabolic issues. The center promises a long-term commitment to excellent patient care, and to raise the bar of Minimally Invasive & Bariatric surgery, not only in Jordan, but the region itself. The center contains the full spectrum of disciplines that every patient needs through her/his journey for a better health.
Dr. Bashir continues to present his work in many national, regional and international conferences. He is a member of many distinguished societies: American College of Surgeons (ACS), American Society for Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery (ASMBS), International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and metabolic disorders (IFSO) and a member of its Communication Committee. He played a great role in facilitating the foundation of IFSO Middle East & North Africa Chapter (MENAC), where he is the chair of Communication Committee. He is also a major contributor to the Pan-Arab Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery (PASMBS).
